How it works Recommendation Flow
TYPICA’s community managers visit roasteries and experience the quality of their coffees and customer service as well as the overall ambience of the space. The community managers pick roasteries whom they want to recommend on behalf of TYPICA.
Special Nominators pick one roastery in each of the 7 areas below, based on roasters’ presentations.
TYPICA’s Quality Control team checks the quality of the nominees’ coffee.
- Areas: Hokkaido/Tohoku, Kanto, Chubu, Kansai, Chugoku, Shikoku, Kyushu/Okinawa

- ・One-star roasters are asked to send a video of their presentation in which they share their stories.
- ・Special Nominators consist of prominent coffee lovers from various fields, coffee roasters, and coffee producers around the world.
- ・Special Nominators make their picks based on such criteria as roasters’ ambitions, how they started out in coffee, what they are passionate about, how entertaining they are, and their efforts toward sustainability.
TYPICA GUIDE 2024

Join us for a showcase of coffee craftsmanship at the TYPICA GUIDE Final Round, set to take place at Tokyo Port City Takeshiba Port Hall on March 20, 2024.
This event will spotlight seven 2-Star Roasters, nominated from various regions across Japan, who will demonstrate their skills through presentations and live brewing sessions on stage.
Attendees will have the unique opportunity to cast their vote for their favorite roaster. The event promises an exciting experience with the presence of not just special guests but also coffee producers and roasters.
